Zusammenfassung
Das Herz-Kreislauf-System ist das erste seine definitiven Funktionen erfüllende Organsystem des menschlichen Embryos. Im Gegensatz zum reifen Herz-Kreislauf-System handelt es sich beim embryonalen und fetalen Herz- Kreislauf-System nicht um ein über die Zeit morphologisch scheinbar stabiles, d. h. um ein im Anschluss an seine Etablierung allenfalls geringfügigen morphologischen und funktionellen Veränderungen unterworfenes System, sondern um ein Organsystem, dessen Gestalt und Physiologie sich parallel zu den tief greifenden gestaltlichen und physiologischen Veränderungen des embryonalen Gesamtorganismus permanent ändert. Um Einblicke in die Komplexität und Dynamik der Entwicklung des embryonalen Gefäßsystems zu ermöglichen, sollte sich eine Darstellung dieser Entwicklung nicht allein auf die Beschreibung zeitlich definierter anatomischer Ist- Zustände beschränken, sondern die diesen Ist-Zuständen zugrunde liegenden Entwicklungsprozesse herausarbeiten.
