Die Idee, eine fortgeschrittene Herzinsuffizienz mittels Schrittmachertherapie (DDD) in Form einer optimierten konventionellen av-sequenziellen Stimulation zu behandeln, wurde bereits zu Beginn der 90er Jahre aufgegriffen [1]. Nach anfänglich optimistischer Einschätzung der Möglichkeiten dieser Methode konnten jedoch mehrere Studien keinen definitven Nutzen bestätigen, weshalb dieses Therapieprinzip wieder verlassen wurde [24].
