In the course of one’s life, a person must continually make choices and decisions — some trivial, others with far-reaching consequences. And the entrepreneur is no exception. The consequences of the decisions one makes as a private person generally remain limited to one’s own existence and that of those in one’s immediate surroundings. But the decisions made by entrepreneurs may have consequences for much larger groups of people, even for entire municipalities and regions. The employment base and regional income in an area depend to a large extent on the investment decisions made by a relatively limited number of firms.
