Abstract

Culture differs from organization to organization, department to department, and workgroup to workgroup.1 Culture influences what behavior is commonly accepted in the organization, and consequently builds a context for how controls are performed by organizational members. This chapter examines how social structures in the organization (whether workgroup, department, or organization) impact control behavior (see Fig. 6.1).
