Abstract
A new approach to sailboat self-steering problem based on the use of neural networks is presented. Aim of the neural controller is to emulate the human steering strategies carried out by an expert helmsman. Several neural network based control strategies have been assessed: a time domain numerical simulator of a sailing yacht dynamics has been used in order to check neural controller performances.
