The Fundamental Property of Wavelets

In the previous chapter we saw in some detail what a couple of biorthogonal multiresolution analyses is, and how this structure allows to build a wavelet basis. However we did not yet introduce the one property that makes of wavelets the powerful tool that they are and that probably is their fundamental characteristics: the simultaneous good localization in both space and frequency.
