Zusammenfassung

Auch dem Blute der Krebskranken wird zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts besondere Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt. Als erster spricht Langstaff 1817 von einem „Blutkrebs“. Später, 1824, findet Velpe au einen intravenösen Krebs, ohne aber spezifische Krebselemente im Blute finden zu können. Mit dem Auftreten der Krasenlehre legte die Wiener Schule das Hauptgewicht auf das Blut und seine Veränderungen. Andral 1843, der Begründer der Krasenlehre, findet, daß das Karzinom hauptsächlich aus einer Fibrinmasse bestehe, die in den Gefäßen koaguliere und dann den Krebs bilde. Virchow schloß sich anfangs der Krasenlehre an, gestützt auf seine Beobachtung, daß er sechsmal Krebsgewebe in den großen Venen gefunden hatte. Carswell in London stimmt insoferne dieser Lehre bei, als er der Ansicht ist, daß der Krebs sich aus Elementen bildet die im Blute vor der Entstehung des Tumors vorgebildet seien. Auch die französischen Forscher dieser Zeit, wie Bacon und andere, halten den Krebs für ein Produkt des kranken Blutes.
