Zusammenfassung

Das Ösophaguskarzinom ist ein Tumor mit nach wie vor schlechter Prognose. Earlam und Cunha-Melo [1] geben aufgrund einer retrospektiven Analyse eine Resektabilitätsrate von 22% und eine 5-Jahres-Überlebensrate von 3% an. Diese Arbeit wird immer wieder als Argument zugunsten nicht operativer Therapieformen beim Ösophaguskarzinom zitiert. In der Zwischenzeit konnte jedoch durch Verbesserung des perioperativen Management als auch durch gezielte Selektion der Patienten im Rahmen einer präzisen Diagnostik die perioperative Letalität gesenkt und die 5-Jahres-Überlebenszeit gesteigert werden. So berichteten Huang et al. [2] über eine Resektionsrate von 84% und lizuka und Kato [3] über eine 5-Jahres-Überlebensrate von 61%. An deutschen Zentren wird eine Resektionsrate von 76%–95% erreicht (Tabelle 1 [4–8]). Die kumulative 5-Jahres- Überlebensrate schwankt zwischen 20% und 24% [6,7].
