Abstract
This aneurysm arises at the crotch of the origin of the superior cerebellar artery (SCA), but the neck soon takes in all of the narrow lateral portion of the basilar artery between the SCA and the P1. Although the SCAs may be duplicated, aneurysms arising at the lower branching of a duplication have not been seen. On one occasion, this aneurysm seemed to arise from the obtuse inferior angle of the SCA origin with the artery adherent to and coursing above the sac. This aneurysm occurs more often on the left side (two-thirds), is common in females (three-fourths), and is often associated with multiple aneurysms (40%). Bilateral aneurysms have been seen three times.
