A Framework to Simulate Different Configurations of a Distributed Tourism Information System

Abstract

Minimizing communication cost is a major goal when designing distributed information systems built on top of a wide area network. We present a framework which is used to model and implement different configurations of a distributed tourism information system. This approach makes building of simulations to estimate the communication cost involved in each considered alternative easy. As an example, we describe the simulation of three different configurations of such a system and discuss the results.
