Abstract
To be fed is an absolute human right that should be given to all hospitalised patients, whom for a multitude of reasons may have difficulties in fulfilling this basic physiological function. In this category the critically ill and injured patients are at the forefront, usually unable to adequately feed themselves and with their increased energetic requirements, nutritional support must be provided artificially with the use of parenteral or enteral feeding techniques.
