Abstract
There are only few data management systems in daily use in Europe. The systems have usually been developed for one unit. Therefore the functional and data requirements have been limited. In the AIM-Inform project (1989–1990) the objective was to bring together a larger group of clinicians and computer scientists. The project resulted in firm overall specifications for a data management system. The Finnish Technical Research Centre as well as Helsinki and Kuopio University Central Hospitals participated in that project.
