Principle considerations of drug actions and interactions

  • Gerald Pöch

Many investigators have to face the question of how to design an experiment and evaluate combined effects, for various reasons and different goals. Some may be confronted with this problem by coincidence, others may have an interest in this field from the beginning. Which of the many approaches one follows, may depend on the special situation and its circumstances, like whom one asks for advice, which textbook or paper is consulted, etc. The longer one is concerned with combined effects, the more one realizes that almost everyone has their own opinion. Probably the great majority of researchers shares the opinion that the topic of combined effects is a continuing problem, especially with “synergistic” agents in combination.
