Abstract
On the IFAC workshop in Budapest, there presented two general designs of similar system: Badel — a data base for a coal fired power plant (Lewoc et al., 1989) and PRIMO/S a data base for a nuclear power plant (Stegbaurer, 1989). Both systems are big enough to produce symptoms characteristic to complex automation systems of major cultutral aspects. We considered it worthwile to analyse the differences in hardware and software of the systems and try to find some objective reasons for the differences.
