Zusammenfassung
Das Prostatakarzinom ist in Westeuropa der dritthäufigste maligne Tumor des Mannes und das häufigste Neoplasma des männlichen Genitales überhaupt [1]. Die absolute Zahl der diagnostizierten Prostatakarzinome nimmt durch die verbesserte Diagnostik, insbesondere im Rahmen der Früherkennungsuntersuchungen, zu. Bedingt durch die ständige Evolution in der Behandlungsstrategie konnte eine deutliche stadienabhängige Verbesserung der 5-Jahres-Überlebenszeit erzielt werden. Neben prognoseverbessernden neuen Behandlungsmethoden müssen neue bildgebende diagnostische Untersuchungen für die Verbesserung der Früherkennung eingesetztwerden. Eine exakte Stadieneinteilung ist für eine gezielte individuelle, stadienabhängige Therapiewahl unerläßlich [2]. Die Stadieneinteilung des Prostatakarzinoms wird nach dem TNM-System und nach der amerikanischen Klassifizierung nach Murphy & Whitmore [3] durchgeführt.
