Zusammenfassung
Obwohl bereits vor mehr als 100 Jahren die Existenz elektrischer Ströme im Gehirn nachgewiesen werden konnte [1] fanden elektrophysiologische Überwachungsmethoden nur verzögert Eingang in die intensivmedizinische Überwachungsstrategie. Das Monitoring von Herz-Kreislauf und Stoffwechselparametern ist heute an allen Intensivabteilungen eine Selbstverständlichkeit, nur in Ausnahmefällen wird dagegen die kortikale Funktion des Bewußtlosen überwacht.
