Gestational Diabetes, Significance of Risk Factors and Results of a Follow-up Study 8 Years After Delivery
Accurate estimates of the incidence of abnormal glucose tolerance during pregnancy and the frequency and the utility of gestational diabetes (GDM) risk factors are virtually nonexistent. Screening select populations of women with risk factors for the condition, and the non-random, nonpopulation — based nature of most studies, have given rise to wide variations in the reported incidence and significance of risk factors and GDM.
