Abstract
The normal changeover in the hemoglobin pattern during the perinatal period has been reported to be delayed in the infants of diabetic mothers (IDM) (Perrine etal, 1985; Bard and Prosmanne, 1985). The same finding has been observed in the infants of mothers with chronic lung disease (Bromberg et al., 1956) and in intrauterine growth delay (Bard, 1974).
