Hydroxylapatite Graft Materials for Cervical Spine Fusions

  • Chapter
Book cover Cervical Spine I

Abstract

Hydroxylapatite (HA) is a ceramic material which holds promise as either a replacement for or a supplement to autogenous bone graft material [1, 4]. Previous studies utilizing this material in various applications have shown excellent biocompatibility [1]. The purpose of this paper is to report on the use of bioresorbable and nonbioresorbable HA ceramic materials evaluated as fusion materials in the cervical spines of dogs.
