Abstract
The operative treatment of ruptured cerebral aneurysms has been made safer by the employment of microsurgical techniques [12, 121, 212]. Nevertheless, postoperative vasospasm remains a major complication associated with early aneurysm surgery, producing delayed ischemic deficits in about 2–20% of all cases [4, 60, 75, 97, 122, 206]. Until now, the only way to establish the time course of a vasospasm has been by angiography [103, 173, 204].
