Zusammenfassung

Einteilung der Depressionen in (1) endogene, (2) somatogene (organische, symptomatische) und (3) psychogene (reaktive, neurotische, Ersch ö pfungsdepression) Depressionen. Die endogene Depression kann einmalig oder phasisch auftreten (unipolare Depression) oder auch mit manischen Phasen alternieren (bipolare Depression, manisch-depressive Krankheit, Zyklothymie). Antidepressiva sind in erster Linie bei endogenen Depressionen indiziert. Im übrigen sind depressive Syndrome auch anderen Behandlungsverfahren (psycho- und soziotherapeutische Maßnahmen, Schlafentzug und — in Sonderfällen — Elektroschockbehandlungen) zugänglich.
