Abstract
All local anesthetics used in ocular surgery will temporarily suppress corneal sensitivity. In principle, there are three different ways to initiate anesthesia:

1.
surface anesthetics which are dropped into the eye and paralyze the receptors,
-
2.
conduction blocks,
-
3.
general anesthesia.
