The individual genetie make-up of a patient usually determines the effectiveness and speed of breakdown of many medications; these are so-called pharmacogenetic reactions (Schloot et al., 1974 and 1976). In many of these cases of genetically determined enzyme defects or enzyme variations are normally latent. They become only manifest after the application of medications; in that way genetically determined Syndromes can be elicited by the application of certain drugs.
