Summary
Determination, Interpretation and Evaluation in Rock Mechanics of the Stress States of Rock Mass in the Mining Areas of the GDR. At present time, there is no doubt about the great importance to rock mechanics of knowing the state of stress or rock mass in respect of the amount and the direction of its components. But, as general laws, which are transferable to different geological and tectonic conditions, do not exist, the measurements and the disclosure of the relationship between the results, which are obtained therewith, and the actual conditions of geology and rock mechanics in the measuring place gain more and more in point. The paper presents measurement results and deals with the relations to the given geological situation. The comparison between measurement results obtamed in regions, which are not active, as well as in rock mass areas, which are separated from each other by relaxing salt rock, permit to deduce the behaviour of the rock mass in rock mechanics on the completion of building activities on its surface or in the inside.
The amount and the direction of the stress components of rock mass are also of consequence to the distribution of liquid phase within the rock mass and to the pressure distribution in the hydrodynamic system of the rocks.
