Flow Injection Analysis and Its Future Development

Abstract

A large number of analytical methods can be accommodated in a simple FIA system. FIA technique does not require a complete mixing of the sample and the reagent solutions or reaching of chemical equilibrium, and the reaction product does not even have to be stable in time. The controlled dispersion of the sample zone is the most important aspect of the techniques as its concept has led also to the design of automated FIA, stopped-flow FIA, merging zones FIA, extraction FIA as well as of an FIA scanning method.
