Abstract
During the last 30 years the possibilities and mechanisms of muscle regeneration have been thoroughly studied, particularly in mammals, and the occurrence of complete muscle reconstruction from minced muscle fragments has been demonstrated since the experiments made by Studitsky (for the past literature, see Carlson, 1972, 1973).
This work was supported by funds from the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche to the Centro di Studio per la Biologia e Fisiopatologia Muscolare and, in part, by a grant from the Muscular Dystrophy Association of America to Prof. M. Aloisi.
