Abstract
Several studies were undertaken to gain some information e.g. on how to determine muscle tendon unit properties during tendon transfer, and also on kinesiological studies of the human body under normal and pathological conditions. In the first period of the time these investigations were performed on cadavers. Since 1965 some articles were published, at first by Omer and Vogel, who investigated muscle tendon units during tendon transfer by muscle stimulation. They used the muscle stimulation to determine the physiological length of reconstructed muscle tendon units. Freehafer, Percham and Keith (1979) described theire techniques, accomphshing by electrical stimulation the muscle and monitoring of its strength.
