Zusammenfassung
Wo durch geologische Vorgänge eine Landmasse entsteht, setzt unter dem Einfluß der Witterung und des an der Oberfläche abfließenden Wassers die Erosion ein. Allmählich bildet sich ein Drainagesystem, das eine doppelte Funktion zu erfüllen hat. Es muß einerseits das Wasser und andererseits die Erosionsprodukte, die nicht im Einzugsgebiet abgelagert werden, d.h. das Sediment, wegtransportieren.
