Zusammenfassung
Die Glukose ist das physiologische Kohlenhydrat des Organismus und somit zentraler Bestandteil unserer Nahrung. Normalerweise werden 50% der aufgenommenen Glukose zur Energiegewinnung verbrannt, 10% als Glykogen gespeichert (11) und 40% in Form von Triglyzeriden als Fett gespeichert (15). Bei Ruhe decken im oxydativen Stoffwechsel Glukose und Glykogen ca. 2/3 des Energiebedarfes, während die freien Fettsäuren (FFS) nur ca. für 1/3 des Energiebedarfes aufkommen. Außerdem ist die Energie aus Glukose die ökonomischeste Form, da pro 1 mol O2 aus Glukose 6,3 mol ATP gebildet werden, aus FFS nur 5,7 mol ATP; das bedeutet, daß die Energie, die 1 mol O2 aus der Verbrennung der Glukose liefert um 13% höher liegt als bei der Verbrennung von FFS (30).
