The patient reader who has followed me thus far may see, on the basis of these last-mentioned clinical examples, that the experimental work described provided the clinician with valuable pathophysiological and morphological information, and for this reason found immediate clinical application. This material also showed that experimental observations can direct clinical thinking toward a great awareness of the possibly severe consequences of one single symptom, in this case acute hypertension.
