Meningiomas of the sellae region are characteristically situated in the area of the tuberculum sellae. Twenty-eight of 313 cases of Cushing and Eisenhardt (1938) were localized in this region. Tuberculum sellae meningiomas are about one—fifth as common as pituitary adenomas and one—half as frequent as craniopharyngiomas (Zülch, 1956). The tumors generally show a suprasellar location and grow into the sella only in the final stages.
