Abstract

For the past four years, we have been engaged in the study of the biochemistry and immunology of endotoxemia according to the experimental model shown in Fig. 1. We studied the effect of steroids on the complexing of complement, antibody, and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in endotoxemia. This led us to study the action of chemical mediators during this immune reaction. Finally, we decided to investigate the metabolic changes during the hypovolemic phase of endotoxic shock.
