In the various phases of development of hypophysis surgery the low-risk Curie-therapy has continued to have special clinical relevance. As a primary operative measure the radioactive implant placed intratumourally destroys the adenoma or, as a postoperative measure, eliminates the remaining tumour tissue and the hyperfunctioning16. We have arrived at this estimation on the basis of comparative examinations of the results produced by operation only, or by Curie-therapy as opposed to conventional radiotherapy, which we have evaluated statistically. The results are presented in a 1967 monograph12, as well as in other publications, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11.
