Geology: Igneous and Metamorphic Occurrences

  • Duncan McConnell
Part of the Applied Mineralogy / Technische Mineralogie book series (MINERALOGY, volume 5)

The characteristics of the phosphorites have already been considered briefly with respect to their crystal chemistry, geochemistry, petrography, and utilization. There is justification for their separate treatment from the viewpoints of geologists (particularly sedimentologists), physical chemists and chemical engineers. In the Phosphorites chapter little is indicated with respect to their geological age, geographical occurrences, or their modes of formation because these topics could, and probably should, be reserved for another author using some such title as “Rock Phosphates of the World”.
