Thermal Mechanism of Cold-Drawing of Polymers

Abstract

The phenomenon of cold-drawing (formation and steady propagation of an abrupt contraction — “necking” — in stretching cylindrical samples) is one of the qualitative peculiarities of polymers and plays an important role in the production processes of strong fibres [1–4].
