Abstract

A historical review of operations in the region of the mesence-phalon and thalamus reveals convincingly how great the difficulties were that arose and how many various obstacles had to be overcome, in order to devise a safe approach to these structures and to avoid serious and undesirable neurological defects originating from these interventions.
