Technique of Experimentation and Observation

  • A. A. Benedetti-Pichler

Abstract

To have a good probability of success beware of haste and make it a habit to let reasoning precede action. Before starting any experiment, make certain: (1) that you know its purpose, (2) that you understand the principles involved in its performance, (3) that you know how to perform it without danger to yourself and your neighbors and without risk of losing the material under investigation, (4) that you know what phenomena may be expected and how they are best and most sensitively observed.
