Abstract
TIROS I is the first of the experimental television-equipped meteorological satellites to be launched in the TIROS program of the U. S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The satellite contains two television camera systems—one wide angle and one narrow angle (high resolution) for photographing the earth’s cloud cover from an altitude of 400 nautical miles.
