Zusammenfassung

Den zeitlichen Gebräuchen gemäß behandelte Parkinson [90] die Krankheit durch Blutentzug aus dem oberen Halsteil mittels Zugpflasters oder durch Anwendung einer Salbe, welche eine purulente Sekretion hervorrufen kann. Er machte ebenfalls in dieser Region Einschnitte, um auch eine purulente Sekretion zu produzieren. Parkinson war der Meinung, daß Quecksilber bei der Paralysis agitans versucht werden sollte, und schlug eine regelmäßige Magen- und Darmtätigkeit vor. Da die muskuläre Schwäche nicht von der konstitutionellen abhängig war, betonte Parkinson, daß Erfolg von Toniken oder einer Diät nicht zu erwarten sei.
