Zusammenfassung

Unser Wissen über die peripheren Gefäßkrankheiten wurde in den letzten 40 Jahren ganz wesentlich erweitert. Lange Zeit wurden diese Zustände hauptsächlich von den Neurologen bearbeitet und erörtert (Charcot, Erb, Weir, Mitchell), man hat sie fast ausschließlich auf „nervöse” Gefäßspasmen zurückgeführt. In seiner Arbeit über die Erythromelalgie nannte Mitchell die Erkrankung „eine seltene vasomotorische Neurose”, und Cassirer betitelte eine der ersten Monographien über periphere Gefäßerkrankungen „Vasomotorischtrophische Neurosen”. Seit dieser Zeit haben wir gelernt, verschiedene pathologische Zustände voneinander abzugrenzen, weiche man auch klinisch bei genauer Anamnese und sorgfältiger Untersuchung unterscheiden kann. Neue Untersuchungsmethoden ermöglichen die Differenzierung zwischen Gefäßstörungen infolge einer organischen Gefäßverengung und solchen infolge von Gefäßspasmen.
