Was komplexe Zahlen sind und wie man mit ihnen rechnet, setze ich als bekannt voraus; um aber die folgenden Entwicklungen auf eine sichere Grundlage zu stellen, gebe ich zunächst einen kurzen Überblick über ihre Definition und wichtigsten Eigenschaften. Die komplexen Zahlen1 lassen sich rein arithmetisch einführen als geordnete Paare reeller Zahlen (x, y).
