Abstract
When Perroncito (1910) studied the activities of the Golgi apparatus during cell division he recorded the fact that it divided into smaller units which sometimes had definite patterns of distribution to the daughter cells. To each of these smaller units he applied the term dictyosome and the term dictyokinesis to the total process of division and distribution (Fig. 6).
