Zusammenfassung

Trotz beachtlichen Fortschritten der experimentellen und klinischen Schlafforschung in den letzten 25 Jahren läßt sich die Frage, wann und wie Schlafstörungen mit pharmakologischen Mitteln zu behandeln sind, auch heute nicht in allen Punkten befriedigend beantworten. Dies ist einerseits Folge der Vielfalt von Schlafstörungen in klinischer und ätiologischer Hinsicht, andererseits Ausdruck der Unsicherheit, die die Anwendung von Psychopharmaka in nicht „vitalen“ Indikationen kennzeichnet.
