As already explained in chapter 2, this book, without claiming completeness, deals primarily with landslides in stratified soils. With only a few exceptions, these are soils from the younger Tertiary; they are frequently marine sediments originating from the Sarmate (uppermost Miocene) and the Pont-Pannon (lowest Pliocene).
