Abstract

The article illustrates a research project, carried out at the Istituto per la documentazione giuridica del Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, aimed at transforming an immense documentary patrimony in an historical data bank of the italian legal language. In the development of the project, the greatest problems arise from the different tecniques of storage, that (about twenty years ago) were adopted in bilding up the historical archives. The objective is to obtain an homogeneus information retrieval system, without lossing the richness of informations. The historical data bank will be the widest source of documentation about the historical development of the italian legal language, since its beginning (960) up to the present time.
