Abstract
A single framework for the development of the range of systems available to support workers in the field of law is described. Correspondences between the components of the various classes of system are noted, and some current difficulties with integrating the systems described. The potential for and benefits accruing from the use of a uniform graph-theoretic model as a basis for the systems are outlined. A detailed description of the application of this approach to the construction and maintenance of knowledge bases, particularly in the legal domain is given.
