Abstract
The morphologic investigation of the phenomena involved in brain edema has been a very intriguing neuropathological problem. Electron microscopy has become an essential method in this field, because it facilitates the recognition of abnormal extracellular and/or intracellular fluid accumulation. Cerebral edema produced under various experimental conditions has been investigated by this technique in order to achieve a more precise localization of the pathologically accumulated fluid in the brain tissue.
