Zusammenfassung
In der präklinischen Notfallmedizin ergibt sich die Indikation zur maschinellen Beatmung bei Herz-Kreislauf-Atemstillstand, insuffizienter Spontanatmung bei Coma und Vergiftungen, bei pulmonaler respiratorischer Insuffizienz, sowie bei schwerem Polytrauma [2,8,11]. In der Klinik wird hingegen für die Entscheidung zur maschinellen Beatmung meist die Blutgasanalyse miteinbezogen. Ein PaO2 unter 60 mmHg bei maximalem Sauerstoffangebot, ein PaCO2 > 50 mmHg bei einem pH < 7.3, bzw. eine Atemfrequenz > 35/Minute gelten als Beatmungsindikationen [2].
