Part of the book series: Eurographics ((EUROGRAPH))

Abstract

We describe a VRML browser-and-server system that we developed to support the LivingWorlds specification for multi-user environments. Since the browser supports VRML version 2.0 with quality-of-service (QoS) control, the LivingWorlds module was implemented by using the VRML 2.0 Java application interfaces. We discuss the concept of designing systems with QoS control, and the problems encountered and solutions reached in actually implementing a LivingWorlds client-server system.
