Concept of an Online Regional Tourism Consulting System

  • Conference paper
Information and Communication Technologies in Tourism 1998

Abstract

At the Bavarian Research Center for Knowledge-based Systems we develop a tourism consulting system designed for the Internet, especially for the region of Nuremberg-Fürth-Erlangen (Bavaria, Germany). Particularly the aspects of individualisation and consulting are considered. We intend to design a program by which the websurfers could access an information base that would provide an individual approach to their search. Industrial concepts like mass customisation (individualising) and customer service (consulting) are transferred to the service industry. With this project we want to analyse the possibilities and limitations of online consulting in the service industry with an emphasis on the tourism business.
